DESIGN PROCESS
Tucked onto a narrow north-south plot in Johannesburg, House C is a bold, modern home designed by D4 Architecture with Nero. The design leans into a minimalist look, using dark tones, exposed concrete, and large glass facades to create a strong, industrial feel. The striking exterior is marked by large glazed sections and raw finishes which set the tone for what’s inside.
The home was designed around open-plan living, with clean lines and flowing spaces. Downstairs, large sliding doors connect the indoor areas with the outdoor entertainment space, making the most of light, air, and easy movement. Generous windows flood the house with natural light, bringing to life the owner’s vision of a bright, airy home.
Inside, the industrial style continues with exposed concrete ceilings and floors, offering a simple, textured backdrop for colourful furniture and finishes. The layout balances shared living areas with more private spaces, including a flexible guest suite with its own entrance, and family bedrooms upstairs.
D4 Architecture and Nero brought together bold materials and thoughtful layout planning to create a home that’s both stylish and personal. It’s a smart, tailored space that reflects modern design while staying true to the homeowner’s lifestyle and taste.
